HKUST Office of Knowledge Transfer

Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a catalyst for innovation and commercialization at HKUST.  Its responsibilities include:

  •     Management and protection of HKUST intellectual property, 
  •     Technology marketing, 

  •     Seek research collaborations and funding from industry,

  •     Technology licensing and commercialization, 

  •     Project and contract development, and

  •     Enhancing technology transfer and startup incubation.

 

Under the umbrella of OKT, the Entrepreneurship Center supports innovation and entrepreneurship at HKUST through a wide variety of programs, including signature Unicorn Day, HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition, HackUST, Entrepreneurship Week, seminars, study tours, seed funds, the BASE and MentorHub, and more.

The HKUST R and D Corporation Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University, helps with converting research and technology into business and industry applications.

Seizing Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA)

For those seeking to capitalize on the GBA’s immense potentials, HKUST offers a range of strategic platforms.

 

The HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute – Leveraging on GBA’s national initiatives and the dynamic opportunities in Futian District, the Institute provides HKUST members with a unique platform to participate in groundbreaking research and development projects, secure funding and partnerships, commercialize innovations research, and engage in executive education programs. Alumni are also welcome to use its state-of-the-art facilities. 

 

HKUST Shenzhen Research Institute – It has emerged as a leading hub for research, training, incubation base and local engagement. In collaboration with Shenzhen-based institutions, the Blue Bay Incubation Program offers incubation services for promising startups, providing access to technology, entrepreneurship expertise, venture capital, industry connections, and resources from both Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

 

The Guangzhou HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute – Located in Nansha, it serves as a bridge between innovation, commercial technology, and youth entrepreneurship. The Institute’s Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau (International) Youth Entrepreneur Hub features a Technology Seeding Program designed to nurture and support aspiring entrepreneurs

 

The HKUST Foshan Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization – It is dedicated to nurturing high-end talents and fostering the growth of innovative startups. Since its launch in 2021, the center has successfully incubated numerous promising ventures. 

 

By leveraging these strategic platforms, HKUST is empowering individuals and organizations to seize the opportunities presented by the Greater Bay Area and contribute to its vibrant ecosystem of innovation and growth.

 

Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF)
