Over the years, many alumni groups have been formed, strengthening bonds between HKUST and its graduates worldwide.

There are a wide range of alumni groups to cater to your interests. From regional chapters in Mainland China and Overseas to department-specific and special interest groups, there is always a way to stay connected and engage with your alumni community. These groups collaborate closely with HKUST, fostering alumni relations and supporting university advancement.

HKUST Alumni Association

The HKUST Alumni Association (HKUSTAA), a dedicated platform run by enthusiastic alumni volunteers, offers a variety of events to help you connect and grow both personally and professionally. Other than casual meet-ups and  career-focused gatherings, HKUSTAA also provides opportunities to give back through community service and volunteering initiatives.

1. What is HKUST Alumni Association (HKUSTAA)?

The HKUST Alumni Association (HKUSTAA), a dedicated platform run by enthusiastic alumni volunteers, offers a variety of events to help you connect and grow both personally and professionally. Other than casual meet-ups and career-focused gatherings, HKUSTAA also provides opportunities to give back through community service and volunteering initiatives.   

2. How can I join HKUSTAA and how much is the membership fee?

All HKUST alumni, full-time students and staff members of HKUST are invited to join HKUSTAA. 

Membership types and fees:


Full Member (Life Member): HK$2,000
Special Offer: Apply for Life Membership before 31 December of your graduation year and enjoy a discounted fee of just HK$1,000!

Associate Member (Full-time student): HK$ 1,000

Associate Member (Full-time staff): HK$2,000
 

3. My classmates and I would like to form an alumni group. How do we go about it?

Development and Alumni Office welcomes alumni to form alumni groups based on their academic discipline or shared interest. Here is how to get started: 

  • Gather a core group of interested alumni.
  • Connect with DAO at alumni@ust.hk. We can offer guidance and resources, including providing a dedicated @ust.hk email address and web hosting to facilitate communication within your group.

     

With over 50 existing alumni associations and groups, there is a strong community waiting to welcome your new initiative!
 

4. I am now living outside Hong Kong. How can I connect with the alumni in my area? What should I do if I am interested in becoming an anchor or helping establish a chapter?

Development and Alumni Office has established networks in numerous countries and cities worldwide. Please check here for the list of existing networks.
 

As our alumni community keeps on expanding, we need your support to tighten the bonds among our alumni all over the world. If you are interested in becoming a local anchor or establishing a new alumni chapter, please reach out to alumni@ust.hk.
 

5. I would like to keep abreast of the various reunions and activities held for alumni. How can I do this?

For events and activities organized by Development and Alumni Office, invitations are sent to target alumni by email. Please make sure you have got a valid @connect or @alumni email.

6. We would like to organize an alumni reunion. What can Development and Alumni Office do to help?

Development and Alumni Office can help alumni groups/associations/chapters promote their events to our extensive alumni network in several ways:

  • Targeted Email Outreach: Reach out to specific alumni groups based on graduation year, program, or other criteria through our database. (We will only do this with your consent.)
  • Social Media Boost: Spread the word across our social media platforms (FacebookLinkedInInstagramWeChat) and our website.


We welcome alumni in Mainland China and overseas to organize reunions in their regions. If you need any help or have any ideas to share, please email us at alumni@ust.hk.
 

7. Do I need to enroll in any kind of membership to become a HKUST alumnus?

You automatically become a member of our alumni community upon graduation and confirmation by the Academic Registry Office. No additional membership enrollment is required.

 

Some independently established alumni groups, however, may charge membership fees for their special activities and benefits.
 

8. Is there any HKUST Alumni Card?

Yes. Alumni can get an Alum eCard through our Alumni App. You can enjoy the exclusive discounts offered to HKUST alumni by presenting the eCard.


However, some alumni privileges and access to campus facilities may require the followings to serve as official proof of your alumni status:

9. I was a former exchange student at HKUST. Can I enjoy the alumni services and benefits?

Former exchange students can retain his/her @connect account after studying at HKUST. While access to other alumni services and benefits is limited to HKUST degree holders, we warmly welcome you to join our overseas gatherings.
