After graduating from HKUST, Ronald worked for two years in one of the Big Four Accounting firms where he gained in-depth knowledge and experience in providing professional advice to Hong Kong-listed companies and overseas corporations. However Ronald's passion for entrepreneurship – which was already evident during his university years when he and a friend formed their own start-up – soon led him to leave his position to establish his own company.

Ronald and his co-founders hit it off at a start-up event in Hong Kong and later partnered together on various independent projects. Eventually they came up with AlikeAudience, a data analytics start-up which applies big data to digital marketing to help advertisers reach their target audiences. It was the first mobile data management platform in Hong Kong and is unique in that it analyzes both online and offline data to deliver reliable and accurate audience profiles to clients. The company was seeded by Cyberport, incubated in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, and has already successfully secured venture capital from investors in Silicon Valley and Hong Kong at the early years.  

Since its establishment in 2014, AlikeAudience has grown from a small office of 3 to a team of 30. As AlikeAudience grows popular among advertisers, the company has reached its footprint from local market to overseas market including the mainland, Singapore, Japan and the United States. 

“Our client profile covers a diverse industry from lifestyle, fast-moving consumer goods, travel to healthcare sectors and they have strong demands in data-driven marketing,” said Ronald.

Being a CFO, Ronald leads his team to drive hypergrowth of the company and often juggles between founding team, clients and the institutional VCs to make the best business deals. “At times of the pandemic, we were able to achieve 100% Y-O-Y when data-driven marketing has accelerated its significance to achieve sales targets.”

That explains why Ronald was recognized by CFO Boardroom Media as one of the top 56 California-based CFOs operating in the marketing space in 2022.

Moving forward, Ronald is excited about the growth opportunities waiting ahead for AlikeAudience. “We are eyeing to expand its business to Europe and even to raise IPO in the coming years.” He reveals.
