Haiying is the Director of the LED Application Development Department for Advanced Photoelectronic Technology Ltd. (APT), a company founded by fellow alumnus David Xiao with the support of HKUST's Entrepreneur Program. APT manufactures chips and lighting products in the LED industry, and is a leader in LED chips in Hong Kong and Mainland China. 

Haiying met her research team when she was completing her PhD studies at HKUST. "Hong Kong and the Mainland complement each other in terms of research and production capacity. HKUST has opened up the opportunities for deeper cross border integration," she says.
