Bird is a staunch believer of "life influences life" and leads a busy but rewarding life. One of his roles is the Co-Founder of VolTra, an NGO that promotes international voluntary services and volunteering travel in Hong Kong through a global network of international work camp organizations.

Bird came up with this idea when he joined a volunteer project in Mongolia where participants from around the world met, lived, worked, learned and connected with the locals on various social issues. He was so impressed by this profound experience that he decided to dedicate himself to similar initiatives when he returned home. Today, VolTra partners with international work-camp organizations worldwide to provide over 3,000 international work-camps and voluntary service projects in more than 100 countries each year. It also organizes international work-camps in Hong Kong for both local and overseas volunteers.
