6waves
After graduation, Arthur teamed up with several HKUST alumni and a friend to form 6waves, a leading publisher of independent games on social networks and mobile platforms. The company originated on Facebook and has since expanded into Yahoo! Mobage, Mixi and Hangame in Japan, Tencent in China, iOS and Android. 6waves has a presence in Hong Kong, Moscow, Beijing, Taiwan and Tokyo, and partners with developers worldwide to bring games to millions of users on its gaming network. Its investors include Insight Venture Partners and Nexon Co. Ltd.
Arthur's vision and spirit of innovation has guided 6waves to become one of the world leaders in the gaming sector. On top of its list of games are Farm Up Social, Wonderland Epic, Castle and many others. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, he was selected as the Emerging Entrepreneur Category Winner in the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year China Award.
Arthur believes that his HKUST experiences taught him invaluable lessons that he was able to put to good use in the business. "Academically the faculty is very strong, of course, but what I valued most was the interaction with fellow students, faculty members and, since graduating, other alumni, too. In the tech field, especially, things change quickly and you need to keep abreast of developments not only in Hong Kong but in China, the US and elsewhere. Interaction with fellow students from different industries expands your horizons."
