Together with fellow HKUST alumnus Sum Wong whom he knew from secondary school, Angus co-founded EventXtra in 2014 when the pair realized that despite living in a tech-savvy world many events still relied heavily on manual labor to get things done. EventXtra's expertise just tapped in on time to help event organizers save time and money by applying mobile technology to labor-intensive tasks.  

On the same computer science program at HKUST, the duo helped each other with their coursework before working on their final year project in 2012 together. The team became the foundation of the future AppZolute, which was established prior to EventXtra and had its first client before it was officially set up. 

EventXtra responds to customer’s needs swiftly, and that is what has kept them alive and even grow in challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic, which alongside events moving from offline to online, saw Angus and Sum start to offer virtual event and exhibition solutions. "From having the idea, to pitching it and building it, to closing our first deal, it was a mere three weeks", says the young entrepreneur.  

Now EventXtra has well over 20 clients signed up for the new product and many more from as far afield as Colombia and Brazil, as well as from Japan, China and Malaysia, knocking on their doors. "I'm proud of our relationship with our clients", says Angus, who has been named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2020 in recognition of his achievements. "This is one of the reasons why when we have new products, they are happy to try them."

With every solution, the business continues to grow. Business is now better than ever. Seeing the enormous potential in the Asian market whereas events are much more digitalized in the US, the goal for the company right now is to conquer this market.
